Occupational Therapy

Past/current experiences working in the field of disabilities:

I have worked previously with children and adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings. I have worked as a in-home respite care provider for a young girl with seizure disorder as well as 2 young boys with autism.  Additionally, I have worked as an inclusion aide in the Chicago Park District’s Therapeutic Recreation Program, where I assisted a young boy with autism and a young boy with physical disabilities to participate in summer camp activities.  I have volunteered in a variety of settings as well, including the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Disability Pride Parade.  Currently, I volunteer with the Chicago Special Religious Education program, assisting adults with developmental disabilities grow deeper in their faith.

Goals for your LEND training experience:

I hope to improve and refine my leadership skills as I prepare to become an occupational therapist serving children with disabilities.

What you wish to contribute, in the future, as a professional/family member in the field:

I would like to be known as a resourceful, passionate and client/family centered therapist who is committed to helping children engage in meaningful daily occupations.
