Social Work Internship Description

The Developmental Disabilities Family Clinics provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Specialty areas include persons dually diagnosed with a developmental disability and mental illness, Autism, Asperger's Syndrome and individuals with behavioral difficulties.

Training focuses on providing individual and family therapy to our adult clients, as well as collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to provide case management services to parents of children with developmental disabilities. Participation in the development and implementation of skills based therapy groups are also a key component of the internship experience. Significant collateral work is usually involved. Individual and group supervision from a multi-disciplinary perspective is provided weekly. Opportunities for bilingual (Spanish/English) work available.

Currently, the Developmental Disabilities Family Clinics accepts social work students from UIC Jane Addams College of Social Work and the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration.
